Nurtured Hunger, 2025

200cm diameter installation

soft-sculpture self-portrait poppet (fabric, wool, watercolour),fertility statues (ceramic, acrylic paint), embroidered poem/placenta (fabric, acrylic paint),salt, rosemary, basil

Displayed/performed at the University of Reading’s exhibition, Conversation Starters (18.11.25)

In this piece, I performed a cord-cutting spell on a soft-sculpture poppet of myself. I delivered my soft-sculpture's “baby”:  an embroidered poem narrating my fear of passing my disordered thoughts onto my future children. By severing the baby/poem from the body of my soft-sculpture, I am rejecting the negative emotions and setting the intention of healing, both for myself and for my future children.

A cord-cutting spell, rejecting my disordered thoughts.
